Why aren’t my reps being tracked properly?
If your reps aren’t being tracked correctly then you may need to either change the position of your device, or step further back from it.
We recommend standing at least 1.5 to 2 metres (5 to 6 feet) away from your device, and ensuring that there is no movement behind you. Any movements behind you will also be detected by the camera and will cause problems with accurate tracking.
Different exercises require your device to be in different positions. For example, for jumping jacks it’s best to prop the device up on a table, but for push-ups your device can be moved to the floor. It’s worth experimenting with different positioning to see what tracks most accurately for you.
How do I share my workouts to Facebook or Twitter?
Once you’ve finished a workout, you’ll see some social media sharing buttons that will allow you to manually share, or for iOS, set up automatic sharing.
Can I play music during my workout?
It is not possible to play your own music with story missions.
For iOS, we have Challenges and you can play your own music with those. These Challenges are not available on Android.
Why are missions 15/22 min long rather than 7 minutes?
Because the original ‘7 minute workout’ research paper recommends that you should do 2 - 3 cycles of activity lasting 7 minutes. These short cycles of cardio and body weight-based resistance training offer maximum results in a short space of time if you push yourself!
If you only have time to do 7 minutes of a mission, then you can stop at a checkpoint and resume your progress later. All of your stats will be recorded for time spent working out. It’s not necessary to complete a mission to view your stats.
How does the calorie calculation work?
You can enter your weight in the app’s Settings menu - this will let us more accurately calculate the calories you’re burning during workouts.
Calorie calculation in Superhero Workout is based on MET-hour equivalents (Metabolic Equivalent of Task) for exercises, and is related to the amount of time you spend on a specific activity. This way of calculating calorie burn assumes that you are putting out a reasonable amount of effort while exercising. Because of this you may find that the calorie count will be different if you compare this to other apps. We are always looking to improve calorie calculation though and it may change in future.
